The basis for Uncomfortably Numb comes from personal experience for filmmaker, Phil Lawrence. Since he was prescribed Paxil nearly ten years ago for Social Anxiety, he has lived with a variety of side effects that he always felt were outweighed by the benefits of the drug. Ten years later, the sense of being “uncomfortably numb” has become too much, causing Phil to reevaluate the influence Paxil’s side effects have had on his life. The film will focus on Phil’s efforts to stop taking the drug, which may lead to SSRI Withdrawal Syndrome. The film will include personal stories and interviews with experts from all across the country. Our goal in making this film is to shed light on the truth and answer some tough questions about the effectiveness vs. risks of Antidepressants. Want to tell your story in the film?
